PostSubject: Floyd Training Log   Floyd Training Log I_icon_minitimeThu Aug 21, 2008 9:15 am

I am going to post my workouts in a separate thread because it is quickly becoming jumbled. I am doing this so that I will be able to look back easily to see what I have done. Please feel free to make comments, suggestions, ask questions, etc. I am very coachable unlike most of my kids.

8-8-08
ME Bench
Grip 3 2 Board-up to 385x1-I think my best ever is 435 and 405x3. I have a ways to go.
Blast Strap Rows-I think I did 5 sets of 6 or so
Blast Strap Pushups-1x11,1x7. These are hard.

Training Log Mon Aug 11, 2008 1:51 pm

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DE/RE Bench

Blast Strap Chinups- 4 or 5 sets x3. These are hard.

DE Bench-155+1.5 chainsx3x8. All grips inside the rings and most at grip 1.

Grip 1 Bench-205+1.5 chainsx8 or 9.

Band Extensions-1x15

LB/TB
Clean and Jerk-up to 130(kilos)x1
Clean-110x3x2 3 front squats on the last set.

Since I am now a certified USAW club coach I must use kilos. Today was my first day doing a CJ with any weight. It felt good.

I have no plan for lower body. I have torn cartiledge in my right knee and some days it feels great and other days it feels terrible. Today was a good day. My Clean is limited by my front squat. I am very weak right now.+

Subject: Re: Training Log Fri Aug 15, 2008 9:33 am

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ME Upper
Grip 3 2 Board-up to 335x3x5 (adhering to prilipen's chart-optimal reps for 85% is 15)
Grip 1 Soft Touch Pause Bench-225x10,225x7
Blast Strap Rows- 3 sets- I was spent at this time.

I hate doing multiple sets with the same weight. It's so boring. Next time I will work heavier so it doesn't take so long.

Subject: Re: Training Log Mon Aug 18, 2008 9:11 am

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RE Upper
DB Press-75x18, 12, 18(rapid fire)
Blast STrap Chins-1x3,1,1,1,1,1 then only negatives
Blast Strap Upper Body Burn out-Scarecrows, then face pulls, then curls x2 sets of I have no idea

Subject: Re: Training Log Yesterday at 9:14 am

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LB
Reverse Blue Band Clean Pulls (bar was mine at half way up the legs)-4 sets of 3-5 at 345
Then Reverse Band Deadlift-up to 555x1

its a start. Bands were choked at about 5-5.5 feet. I didnt measure it. Its been 3 years since I have done reverse band deadlifts and then the bands were still loaded somewhat at the top and my best deadlift was 605. At that time I could do 640 at a meet. So I guess my deadlift at a meet would be around 600. it could be worse.

DE/RE upper
Dynamic Bench-minis-155x3x8-all reps done inside rings and soft touch paused.
Same set up-Grip 1x11,grip 2 x 3, grip 3 x2- 10 seconds rest between sets.
Chinups- 3 sets of waste of time- I must have gained a ton of weight over the weekend.
Blast strap rows- 2 sets to failure.

I am alternating DE and RE emphasis days every Monday. Friday is my ME day.

Thats the only way I can set up reverse band presses. I get nothing out of the bands from here.

Blast Strap Day

Chinups-4 sets of embarrassing
Pushups-3 sets of embarrassing

I am limited on my pushups by my abs. When I squatted I had no problem with my ab strength. Now that I havent squatted heavy in over 6 months, my abs are pathetically weak. I have always hated ab work. Blast strap pushups will serve as my ab work. I will stick to these two exercises on Mondays until I get good at them. It may be a while.

I did 135x20 and 95x20 on Bradfords during class. I have been doing these in class for a while I just havent been posting it.

2 board-365x3x2,365x4. this is 90% of what I got last week. 10 reps at 90% falls into prilipins chart.

i will do some RE work for upper body as the day goes on. I might even mess around with our hammer strength pressing thingy.

Blast Strap Chins- 4 sets of a little better than last week even though I weigh 5 lbs. more.
Pushups-I lowered the straps and it made it ten times harder. I did 10,6, and a negative with a mini band.

Grip 2 Soft Touch Bench Press-Doubled Minis+1.5 chains-265x1,135x19
Blast Strap Rows-2 sets

I know nobody reads this but I will explain what I am doing anyway. I get a max on a ME exercise and the next week I do 90% and above according to Prilipins chart. I seem to be getting stronger every week so it might be working. That is my friday workout. On Mondays I do chins and pushups and maybe some bradford presses.

what do you think about what I am doing? Makes about as much sense as anything else I guess?

We are about to leave for Thomas County Central. We will win this game. Since you are the only one who reads this, I can say it. ha.

Enjoy the ride back, I like what you are doing. I am going to keep trying to do some lower body every week until I decide what I want to do next. I dont want to decide to do a push pull in the spring or summer and have to start from scratch again.

That sux, to come that close to beating a great program at their place. We finally decided in the second half to not give the ball away and amazingly we won.
